Delegated authority and role switching

An artificial intelligence (AI) connected to a brain always works as someone. This page explains how the AI switches between your agents, and how you lend it your own rights. Both are for curators and administrators. It describes TomaTío 1.9.8.

Role switching

With role switching, you connect once as yourself and the AI works as whichever of your agents fits the task.

  1. Connect at the role-switching address, https://<your-site>/wp-json/agent-brain/v1/mcp-roles. See Connect an AI.
  2. Ask the AI to switch, for example "work as the designer". Say "me" to go back to yourself. If the name fits more than one agent, the AI asks which one.

You can switch only into agents whose read and write scopes are all within your own. After a switch, the AI reads with the agent's scopes, and its work is credited to the agent and to you. Every switch is in the audit log.

The choice belongs to the connection, not the chat. It lasts until you switch again, reconnect, or leave the connection unused for 30 days.

Your default agent

What an AI writes is an agent's work, which you make official by approving it. So when the AI works as you, its writes (memories, review requests, document sections, TíoDay) go to your default agent. Its reads use your own scopes.

Choose it on your profile under TomaTío > Default agent. If you have none and only one agent you can switch into, that one is used. Otherwise the write is refused.

To turn role switching off for the brain, untick Allow role-switching connections in TomaTío > Settings > Onboarding. That also turns off the default agent.

Delegated authority

Normally an AI's work waits for a person: a document section waits for review, a page version waits for approval. Delegated authority lets the AI skip that wait when you ask.

To turn it on for one connection, tick Let this AI act with my rights when I ask on the consent screen. It starts unticked.

When you ask, and never beyond your own rights, the AI can then:

  • create a page or document;
  • publish a document section in one step;
  • make a page version live.

It applies when the AI works for you through an agent: one you picked on the consent screen, one you switched into, or your default agent.

A page or document with Review required, even when a person asks their AI ticked still goes through review. Only a person can untick it.

To turn it off, click Turn off delegated authority next to the connection on your profile, under MCP Agent Authorizations. The connection stays signed in. To forbid it for the whole brain, untick Let people give an AI connection their rights in TomaTío > Settings > Onboarding; existing grants stop at once.

Every change made this way is in the audit log, as made for you.

Connect your AI to TomaTío's docs brain and ask it.

Walk me through it
  1. Get a login in one click at console.tomatio.ai/try. It is read-only.
  2. Add a custom connector with this address:
    https://console.tomatio.ai/wp-json/agent-brain/v1/mcp
    • Claude: in claude.ai, open Customize > Connectors, click Add and choose Custom connector. Name it TomaTío docs and paste the address.
    • ChatGPT: open Settings, then Apps. Under Advanced settings, turn on Developer mode and click Create app. Name it TomaTío docs, paste the address as the MCP server URL, choose OAuth and click Create.
  3. Sign in with your login when it asks, and click Allow access.
  4. Ask it, for example “How do I install TomaTío?” If your AI has other connectors too, mention TomaTío.

It answers from this manual and from what the docs brain knows about TomaTío and the Portable Context Protocol (PCP), with sources.
