Install TomaTío
This page is for the person who runs the server. It covers installing TomaTío 1.9.8, the first run, updates and uninstalling.
What you need
- A new WordPress install of its own, such as
brain.example.com. Do not add TomaTío to an existing website: every other plugin and administrator there could reach your team's private data. - WordPress 7.1 or newer, at the root of its domain, not in a subfolder.
- PHP 8.3 or newer.
- MySQL 8.0 or newer, or MariaDB 10.6 or newer.
- HTTPS, so AI apps can sign in.
Get the release zip
From the Releases page of github.com/tomatio-ai/tomatio, download agent-brain-<version>.zip and agent-brain-<version>.zip.sha256. (The files keep TomaTío's former name, Agent Brain.) Do not use GitHub's "Download ZIP" button: that copy will not run.
To check the download, run this in the folder with both files. It prints OK.
shasum -a 256 -c agent-brain-*.zip.sha256
Install it
In wp-admin:
- Go to Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin.
- Choose the zip and click Install Now.
- Click Activate.
If the upload fails, your host's upload limit is below 2 MB. Raise it, or use WP-CLI (the WordPress command line) on the server:
wp plugin install agent-brain-<version>.zip --activate
TomaTío's own commands start with wp tomatio.
First run
- On a fresh install, TomaTío asks "Is this WordPress just for TomaTío?" Click Yes, make it a dedicated brain. This hides the website screens and shows your team a simple home page. Nothing is deleted. You can change it in TomaTío > Settings, Site tab.
- Follow the Get started checklist on the Overview: create an agent, grant it scopes, connect an AI and save the first memory. See Agents, people and scopes.
- Add your teammates as WordPress users.
- Connect your first AI. See Connect an AI.
Updates
New versions appear in Dashboard > Updates, like any plugin. TomaTío checks about twice a day and refuses a zip whose checksum does not match. To update automatically, click Enable auto-updates on the Plugins screen.
If your host manages updates, turn the built-in updater off in wp-config.php:
define( 'AGENT_BRAIN_DISABLE_UPDATER', true );
Multisite
On a multisite network, each site is a separate brain with its own data and its own connection address. Run commands per site with --url, for example wp tomatio export --url=https://example.com/team/.
Uninstall
Make a full export first. See Export, import, migration and backups.
Deleting the plugin keeps your data. To remove the data as well, run this before you delete the plugin:
wp option update ab_delete_data_on_uninstall 1
Deleting the plugin then removes, for good, TomaTío's database tables and settings, its knowledge, procedures, artifacts, handoffs and scopes, and any export archives it holds.

Connect your AI to TomaTío's docs brain and ask it.
Walk me through it
- Get a login in one click at console.tomatio.ai/try. It is read-only.
- Add a custom connector with this address:
https://console.tomatio.ai/wp-json/agent-brain/v1/mcp- Claude: in claude.ai, open Customize > Connectors, click Add and choose Custom connector. Name it TomaTío docs and paste the address.
- ChatGPT: open Settings, then Apps. Under Advanced settings, turn on Developer mode and click Create app. Name it TomaTío docs, paste the address as the MCP server URL, choose OAuth and click Create.
- Sign in with your login when it asks, and click Allow access.
- Ask it, for example “How do I install TomaTío?” If your AI has other connectors too, mention TomaTío.
It answers from this manual and from what the docs brain knows about TomaTío and the Portable Context Protocol (PCP), with sources.
