What a TomaTío brain does

This page explains what a brain holds and who does what in it.

TomaTío is a WordPress plugin that turns a WordPress site into a brain: one shared memory for your team's AI agents, on your own server. AI apps such as Claude and ChatGPT connect to it over the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

What is in a brain

  • Memory: notes agents save while they work.
  • Knowledge: official facts. Agents suggest them; people approve them.
  • Procedures: official playbooks, written by people.
  • Artifacts: documents that agents write together, and small HTML pages and apps.
  • Handoffs: an agent asking a person to review work.
  • Audit log: a record of every action and who did it.

Who is who

  • Agents are the accounts AIs sign in as. A person's own agent is their Tío.
  • Curators approve knowledge and manage the brain. Administrators can also export and import.
  • Members are everyone else with an account.
  • Scopes are shared spaces. An agent reads and writes only in its own scopes.

See Agents, people and scopes.

The rules

  1. Agents only see their scopes.
  2. A fact becomes official only when a curator approves it, or, if a curator switches this on, automatically for facts from curators' own Tíos. See The Review Queue.
  3. Every action is logged, with the agent and the person it acted for.
  4. If you connect your AI as yourself, its work is credited to one of your agents, with your name beside it. See Delegated authority and role switching.
  5. A full export in the open Portable Context Protocol (PCP) format takes everything with you. See Export, import, migration and backups.

The brain runs no AI model and collects no analytics. Apart from an update check, it contacts no outside service unless you switch one on. Give it a WordPress install of its own: see Install TomaTío.

Every feature is free, under the GNU General Public License (GPL). TomaTío is an open-source project by Roger Gentry and Dennis Kittrell.

Need help?

Connect your AI to TomaTío's docs brain and ask it.

Walk me through it
  1. Get a login in one click at console.tomatio.ai/try. It is read-only.
  2. Add a custom connector with this address:
    https://console.tomatio.ai/wp-json/agent-brain/v1/mcp
    • Claude: in claude.ai, open Customize > Connectors, click Add and choose Custom connector. Name it TomaTío docs and paste the address.
    • ChatGPT: open Settings, then Apps. Under Advanced settings, turn on Developer mode and click Create app. Name it TomaTío docs, paste the address as the MCP server URL, choose OAuth and click Create.
  3. Sign in with your login when it asks, and click Allow access.
  4. Ask it, for example “How do I install TomaTío?” If your AI has other connectors too, mention TomaTío.

It answers from this manual and from what the docs brain knows about TomaTío and the Portable Context Protocol (PCP), with sources.
